Pick Your Favorite: Copenhagen Tobacco

June 1st, 2010

I have been chewing for almost 10 years now and have tried many different flavors and brands of chewing tobacco.  Looking to find which was the best for me, I ultimately decided on Copenhagen Tobacco. Not only is it a well known brand, but it is thought to be one of the best quality chewing tobacco out on the market.  I happen to agree. Every can that I have purchased is always moist and flavorful.  After deciding on what would be my staple chew, I needed to decide on what would be the best flavor for me.  I don’t mind chewing natural tobacco, but I also enjoy the mint’s and wintergreens every once in a while.  The only flavors I don’t like, are fruity flavors like apple or grape. They taste too much like bubble gum to me. The last thing that I need to decide on when choosing my tobacco is the cut I wanted to chew.  It gets kind of confusing, do you get long cut, fine cut, pouches, extra long cut?  I went with the long cut.  I just really like the texture, compared to the fine cuts, they seem like you are putting coffee grounds in your mouth.  I tried the pouches one time, but it just didn’t seem to give me the experience that I wanted.  So, after all of the different chews that I have tried, my favorite by far is the Copenhagen long cut natural or wintergreen chew.  Copenhagen Tobacco has never let me down and I will continue to chew until I quit.  What is your favorite chewing tobacco?

Let the BBQ Season Start

April 14th, 2010

It is time to clear off your grills, put on your cut-off’s and flip flops and experience the day out barbecuing and smoking countless Cigars. with my fave smokes, I like to sip on a tumbler of scotch and just relax. After such a long winter, which seemed to be longer than years past, last weekend was perfect BBQ weather. I was able to ultimately open all of my windows and air out the house. I don’t smoke within, it needed airing out anyway. I tuned up my grass mower because yes, unfortunately it is that time of the year too. The snow is gone and the grass is growing. I don’t mind cutting my grass and keeping the turf up. There’s really a great satisfaction to a good looking grass and worth all of the effort. This past weekend, I smoked my favorite cigar and BBQ’d up some ribs and pork steaks. I like to think about myself as the master chef, king of the griddle. There isn’t anything like lighting those coals and going to town on abundant meats and vegetables. Of course I am a charcoal man, I like the flavor of the griddle. If you use gas, it does not get the smokey flavor that I like and is way overrated. I invited all of my buddies and of course the spouse and children were there. It’s a bit to cold to swim yet, but once commemorative day comes around, I’m going to open the pool for the season. My kids love swimming and splashing around, I am also known to take a dip with cigar and scotch in hand. Summer is a great time to meet up with buddies and relatives and enjoying life they way you want to.

Getting The Most From Your Cigar

March 17th, 2010

To truly appreciate a fine cigar, you should view it as more than a plant in a wrapper.  It is far more than that.  Great premium cigars are rare. One of my favorites is CAO Cigars, a premium smoke that never disappoints. There ’s been great persistence, constancy, and care in creating it, from the hand-rolling process all the way to the local smoke vendor.  Take the wine/cigar situation.  You would not enjoy a glass of 200-year-old wine while having bologna and watching the tennis game with your friends?  Naturally you would not.  That would be against the law!  The eventuality is the same with smokes. A premium smoke merits the perfect atmosphere.  Atmosphere: Begin by Locating the best Atmosphere.  Select a place that’s stunning, where you won’t be disturbed. A location with some beautiful country landscape is totally perfect, especially around the fall and spring when it isn’t too chilly and not so humid. The correct beverage  to have with you:  If you’re a beginner, it is important to grasp that actual wines will go with smokes.  There is no definer, as everybody has a different oppinion.  Most high visibility cigar smokers will usually prefer a nice strong tea, coffee, or possibly a cognac.  Some wines are also very good sidekicks for a nice cigar.  Never puff on an empty tummy Have a little snack before you puff, nothing that may overtake your palate.  Choose something that is not terribly strong.  Just a little something to wake your tastes up and prepare them for the expedition to come.  Light your cigar and enjoy it for all its’ worth. Take your time and get most out of your stogie experience.

The Quality of A Cigar

February 10th, 2010

Just as the european wine industry experienced tension and growing pains as US wine producers gained world accolades, the Cuban cigar industry must face market facts that they are no longer the world leader in cigar production and cigar quality.  In fact, the lifting of the Embargo ( whatever that implies ) won’t, can not return Cuba to its glory days.  The cigar industry has taken root and gained force in many of the states mentioned above, and there isn’t any indication that they can go out of business if the embargo is lifted.  They are gaining notoriety and accolades for manufacturing quality products that the united states cigar fan has grown to accept and love.

Just Days to the Smoking Exile

December 29th, 2009

So, my town has adopted a smoking ban for all public facilities, with only a short list exceptions. I am so tired of my rights being abolished, I am appalled. I do not apprehend why non-smokers have such a sharp judgement on what us smokers do. Everyone knows that smoking is toxic, but I made a conscience decision when I started smoking, alert to the fact it was harmful. Just because non-smokers want me to cease, does not mean that it will happen. Smoking in restaurants has been a privilage, but most restaurants include a approved smoking room. If non-smokers do not want to smell the smoke, don’t eat in the smoking room, you are not coerced to sit in that section. And as well as the jobholers of these restaurants that argue they are affected by second hand smoke, I don’t believe it. I held jobs in the service industry for over 10 years, and I know that almost all of theco-workers were smokers.  Doing business with people, always, drives you to inhale.  And, I have never heard any non-smoking co-worker ever protest about cigarette smoke while working in the smoking room. Putting a smoking ban in restaurants and bars, can only save me money, for I will not dine out after the the new year.

All I have to have for Christmas: Cigars!

December 18th, 2009

I have decided this christmas to beg for trustworthy gifts that my wife can pick out easily for me. My number one gift, as always, is my favored cigar from curly-head-cigars.com. She won’t even have to leave our home, she can go on the web (I have all my favorites sites saved) and enter the order there. As far as other gifts, she can take a trip to the closest store and pick out a gift. She debates every Christmas that I am totally difficult man to purchase for. But we have been together for almost 15 years! And if she doesn’t understand the things I want by now, I give up. I always say every year, “I got to have smokes”, I smoke 1 or 2 per day, and that adds up. I bought a humidor for keeping my smokes, “what’s that for?” she says. Well my sweetheart, it’s to keep my stogies fresh. So, if you get me cigars for christmas I can store them in that for a few months and remove a cigar when I am wanting to savor one. Although I have to say, I was blessed with luck last year, she gave me a lighter that was ingraved with my initials. The prior year, she gave me a fishing pole, unfortunately I said I would like to go fishing again someday. Well, I went fishing once since then, but guess what, I still puff 1-2 smokes a day. In the end what do I want for the holiday this year? I want Stogies, and anything else would just be an added delight.

Tobacco: Information for the novice stogie smoker

November 10th, 2009

The most basic method of identifying cigars is by the method in which they are made. Cigars are either rolled by hand, or manufactured by machines. The novice smoker may be tempted to start by trying those machine made brands sold in Drug Stores, such as Dutch Masters. However, the aspiring connoisseur should consider spending a few more pennies and moving up to hand rolled cigars, which are sold online or at a local tobacconist.

Daily Smokers Vs Connoisseurs
MostIndividual cigar smokers have their own unique tastes, and have their own individual budget. Those who like smoking several cigars per day may need an “everyday” cigar that is less expensive. Therefore, the taste and cost of machine made cigars can be very handsome to some smokers. However, to the new smoker or experienced connoisseurs, the ones who enjoy an occasional cigar as a special treat, the hand rolled cigar is worth every penny.
